Need a car?

I certainly do. For the past 3 months I've been sharing a car with my mom and quite frankly I'm tired of it. It's nice having your own car (besides for having to pay the insurance, repairs etc). I'm so desperate for my own means of transportation that I may buy a motorcycle since it's within my bank book. The car we currently use has been through a barrage of repairs and by now the repairs probably exceed the the value of the car!

In my stint of desperation in trying to find an affordable means for transportation I found this neat site called Driverside.

You can list your car for sale free of cost, unlike most sites which offer similar services. Additionally, you can find accessories and parts specific to your car (I really needed this). If you're interested in purchasing a car via the site car search is made easy through their easy to browse interface. The vehicles, new and used, are grouped by size, i.e, coupe, sedan, and suv. Seeing that I can't afford a car yet. I would mostly used their services to find the best mechanic in my location.

All this car talk has made me hungry for some weird reason.

Don't drink and drive!

2008 Rap albums

Word on the street is that Nas's Untitled and Ice Cube's Raw Footage are the "must get" rap albums so far this year. Of course, Lil Wayne's Carter 3 head's the list as his next album entitled "The Carter 4" (no surprise there) has been leaked over the internet and is getting regular rotation in barber shops across America. The Game, D12 and a barrage of underground mixtapes have also been creating tremors in the industry marked by the return of the Lox (with the release of two of their own mixtapes). This is a good year for rap underlined by Young Jeezy's "The Recession", The Game's (L.A.X) and a smooth compilation by Bone Thugs and Harmony (can't remember the name of the album).

Go cop these records in the store, they're hella cheap - like 10 bux each.

Birthday gift?

My birthday is coming up (not really, its 2mnths away) and I am contemplating what item(s) I should buy myself. I was really thinking of getting a mac but I don't think my pocket will allow for it. Next on the list would be some sort of game console but knowing me, I'm not gonna have enough time to play it (unless its a psp). Soo... that leaves, blackberry curve, shoes, a watch, or some other form of jewelry.

I think a fancy, luxury watch would be a nice fit. I've been in want for a dressy, fashionable watch for sometime now and I think this birthday may be the time that I satisfy this need. Ideally, a Movado would fit me nicely :-) but again, I'm not sure if I can afford one. The most affordable dressy - fashionable/luxury watch that comes to mind would be something from Kenneth Cole. I like his watches, they're sleek and affordable. In the event that I don't get a Movado, Kenneth Cole places a definite 1st choice.

I like jewelry but I'm not that fashion conscious. I've heard about the Cartiers and the Tag Heurs but I really couldn't tell you one if it fell right there in my face. Lucky for me there's the watchery. It's an online luxury watch store which has a plethora of stylish and affordable brand name wrist watches. They also have an e-bay store which has close to 100% feedback (for you non - ebay junkies this is GOOD!).

The watch I'm interested in getting is at the top of the page. I definitely have enough money to get the watch and the blackberry curve and a pair of shoes :-) All of which I would like to get for my birthday. As a matter of fact, I could get all of those things plus some jewelry if I budget right. I saw this watch in a store at the mall and it costed twice the price the watchery is selling it for. Hopefully they have it when my bday comes around!

Head ache

After playing video games (ps3) for last 6 hrs with my cousins I now have some sort of head ache. I'm a little disappointed in myself. I can usually go for at least half the day without feeling groggy, much less this.

We played, Need for speed: pro street, fifa soccer 08 and call of duty 4. I kicked their butts in all of them. They came pretty close to beating me in call of duty, we tied.

Wish I could say more but the head won't allow for it.

Toodles.

Rocketron

So I have recently gotten into reading the news and can say that I have my list of media entities that I visit on a regular basis. The best part about online news is that it's not bulky, you don't have to worry about throwing it away in the trash (unless you saved it to your desktop) and people are not going to ask you to borrow it and not return it. Fantastic! What's also cool is listening to the news, but I'm talking about listening to it on the radio. I'm talking about listening to it from your mobile (handsfree) phone. Rocketron is a relatively new news provider which gives users the ability to dial a number and listen to the news. But not just any news. Whatever news item you are interested in. How cool is that? Very! I am tired of calling automated systems and having sit and listen to an entire news package to hear the sports at the end. Now with rocketron you simply dial the number, say what you want to hear and Voila! You have your mobile news! You have the ability to skip news items you're not interested in and repeating ones that have you on the edge of your seats by utilizing rocketron's voice system. Also, after a while rocketron learns what news items you listen to most and bundles news from those categories so that the next time you call in you dont have to listen to a bunch of mumbo jumbo.

New Apple Ipod Nano released and Itunes 8

Not that I care much about the release of iTunes 8 but I have been an ipod user for some years now and I cannot complain about the product. Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple at his press conference in San Francisco, California unveiled the new Nano along with a revised (slimmer) version of the iTouch. Expectedly, both devices were sporting itunes 8 which featuring "Genius" - the program's HDTV capability. Thats right you read correctly, do not adjust the color of your pc/laptop. iTunes 8 sports Genius, software which not only has HDTV capability but also gives users a suggested list of songs to select from based on their usage and other users who listen to music from similar genres. But like I said, I'm not a big iTunes fan.

The new iPod nano

The iPod nano is thinner with a larger screen. It also has a screen orientation device (similar to the iPhone) which allows users to watch videos on a friendlier resolution. The nano also boasts a "shake to shuffle" feature which allows users to shake their nano and thus engaging a new song. In other words, shake the nano to skip to a next song! But wait, there's more! The nano is made of aluminum and covered in curved glass adding to the finese and sleekness of the iPod making it the thinnest iPod ever released according to Steve Jobs. The the new nano will cost you $149.99 (now available) for the 8g and $199.99 for the 16g (released next week.) and is availble in a wide array of colors.

*Oh yeah, I almost forgot! The new nano has voice recording capabilities. How cool is that!!?!?!?

Affordable eyeglasses

Now I must say given my history the title of this post seems a bit of an oxymoron. However, after finding $ 8 Zenni Optical Rx Eyeglasses I have a new outlook on on prescription glasses prices.

The secret behind Zenni's affordability is the fact that they manufacture their own styles of glasses. They are not your standard eyeglass retailers who basically act as middlemen in getting top brand (over priced) frames to customers. But are pioneers in eyeglass development and research. Not only do they offer great, stylish and trendy affordable frames but they also provide the prescription lens to go with them!

What does this mean? Well firstly it means that you wont have to go elsewhere to satisfy your eyesight needs. Everything is under one roof!

How affordable you ask?

The glasses go from as low as $8.00 to as high as $30.00!!!! Ridiculously low, I know. Especially when you consider that all eyeglasses come with:

  • High quality stylish frame

  • Thin and Light 1.57 index lens

  • Anti Scratch Coating

  • Full UV Protection

  • Lens edge polishing and beveling

  • Quality Hard Eyeglass case

  • Microfiber Lens Cleaning Cloth

  • Full Guarantee

  • I don't know about you but i'm getting anxious just writing about Zenni Optical right now. If you're interested they have a simple checkout cart for purchasing frames and/or lens online. Well i'm done talking. I'm going to go check out those $ 8 Zenni Optical Rx Eyeglasses because my current glasses are over 3 years old!

    Hurdler Owned

This has got to be one of the funniest videos I have ever laid eyes on in all my life! Maybe due to the fact that I am also a hurdler and so I can certainly imagine what may have been going through this young man's head during the race. This video is comedy at its best! Or it isn't, depends on which perspective you're seeing it from (I'm sure he didn't find it funny!)

    Watch!

Take em to church - cam'ron

This isn't the song I wanted to post originally, but Melanin, by Bugs was unavailable on youtube. The video above, Take Em to Church is a supposed to dis to Mase from Cam'ron. The song is featured on Diplomatic Immunity 2, arguably the Diplomats best album in what has been a barrage of garbage albums. Despite this, I'm a Dipset fan. Cam'ron, Juelz, Hell Rell etc..

    Take em to chuch!

    Money woes

It's so ironic the things I come across on a daily basis. Whats so ironic about them? Well my life has an uncanny way of positioning me with things, events and people directly related to whatever challenge I'm experiencing.

Case in fact, bills.com's iq test. Just this evening I had a long "meeting" with my parentals about budgeting and our on going money woes as we anticipate major debts and financial hurdles. Bills.com to the rescue? Not exactly, but their iq test is very helpful and easy to understand and go through.

My iq score was pretty low, it was 78%, a C. I scored poorly on the debt and wealth sections. It's not my fault I don't know my credit score, I'm a college student!(laughing to myself). But seriously, I could use a financial advisor right about now. Someone who could plot the rest of my financial goals and life on a whole for me. Steer me on that path to wealth creation.

After taking the test and receiving your score you are shown the relative answers for the questions you answered. Because there is no right or wrong answers just more appropriate ones, you are given a second chance to improve your score by choosing a more suitable answer. For example, lets say the question was:

How much of your paycheck do you save per month?

    Answers:
    1. 10%
    2. 5%
    3. None
    4. All
And your answer was 3. None. You would probably ge the minimum point allocation for this question. On seeing the answers you would have a chance to select the best choice (possibly 10%) thus increasing your score.

All in all the bills.com iq test is pretty helpful and useful as it gives you tips for getting out of debt, increasing wealth and encourages a responsible approach to everyday financial challenges.

    Caribbean track & field forum

    * So you're still recovering from the high you experienced viewing (or attending) the Beijing Olympics but have found yourself in dire need for a new high! No need to fear, your track and field expert is here! (Not really!)

If you're a Caribbean track and field junkie then you will appreciate the site I am writing about.

Caribbean Track & Field forum (a sub division of Talawah.com) is a forum based website devoted to the discussion of track and field with a piercing emphasis on the results of athletes from the Caribbean, born & raised or athletes of Caribbean heritage. The forum features many knowledgeable and experienced "forumites" who contribute their wealth of knowledge on a regular basis.

The forum is hardly restrictive as anyone is open to view the msg board. However, only registered users are permitted to contribute to the topics discussed. Fortunately, registration is free (you only need a username, password and email address & bingo!)

The forum is mangaged by a handful of moderators who do their best to ensure that only the most accurate information is shared on the site. (yeah right..)

All in all, if you're hungry for the latest track and field gossip or results Caribbean Track and Field forum should definitely be your first stop, especially if you're trying to find a free link to watch a european track meet online!

    Cheers!

    Jamaica Olympics Video Compilation

Below is a compilation of a few of the many superb performances from Jamaican athletes at the Beijing Olympics.

    Hope you enjoy it.

    Wednesday, August 20, 2008

Melaine Walker - Olympic 400 hurdler champion

Congratulations to Jamaican, Melaine Walker for a stellar performance in the ladies 400m hurdles at the Beijing Olympics. Walker, a past student of St. Jago High School (Jamaica) and the university of Texas (Hooke 'em Horns) won the event in a new Olympic record of 52.64 seconds.

The spunky Jamaican kept her composure after trailing American, Sheena Tosta (formerly Sheena Johnson) for most of the race. Walker is now Jamaica's 2nd Olympic champion at the event following the footsteps of pioneer Deon Hemmings - McCatty. Interestingly, in winning the gruelling event, Walker eclipsed McCatty's 12 year old record Olympic and National record. Thus becoming Jamaica's 3rd gold medalist at the championships following the exploits of sensation Usain Bolt and Jamaica's newly crowned sprint queen Shelly - ann Fraser.
Walker's victory catapults the Jamaican contingent to the top of the track & field medal table with 7 medals (4 gold and 3 silver)

Melaine (sometimes pronounced MEL - LAIN - EEE) won the silver medal at the 2002 world junior championships held in Kingston, Jamaica. She later went on to represent Essex community college where she enjoyed some success. After her stint at Essex she moved on to the university of Texas (at Austin) where she earned many NCAA All American honours. The versatile Walker finished 3rd in the 100m hurdles along with capturing her pet event, the 400m hurdles in her senior year. Unfortunately, minutes after capturing the NCAA title she was disqualified for improperly clearing a hurdle.

Walker has been on the verge of Olympic greatness since leaving high school which makes her current form and recent accomplishments surprising to few.

    Jamaica proudly salutes you Melaine!

Usain Bolt 200m record holder and olympic champion

Congratulations to Jamaican Usain Bolt for achieving the sprint double (100m & 200m) along with smashing the world records in those events at the Beijing Olympics. The phenom smashed Micheal Johnson's 12 year old record of 19.32s by two hundredths of a second, establishing a new record of 19.30s.

Bolt, still 21, is the first Jamaican to capture the 100m and thus the first Jamaican to win the sprint double at the Olympics. Additionally, Bolt is the first man since Jamaican Donald Quarrie to hold both sprint records simultaneously.
"Lightening" Bolt is the first athlete since Carl Lewis to achieve this elusive and testing double.
Bolt who plans to take a day off from competition celebrates his 22nd birthday on Thursday, August 21, 2008.

Bolt's mind boggling achievement in the 200m came just minutes before his country woman Melaine Walker won the 400 meter hurdles in a new Olympic record of 52.64s. Walker, a graduate of the university of Texas, followed in the footsteps of Olympian Deon Hemmings as the 2nd Jamaican woman to capture the top position in what is considered one of the sport's most gruelling events.

Here is the Olympic 200m champion's world record effort.

Swimming world records falling like rain drops.

I'm trying to contain myself while writing this so that my thoughts are coherent. However, after the exploits of the swimmers (especially Phelps) at this years inception of the Olympics, I must say that it is challenging.

What does a world record signify?

My understanding of a world record is that it is a mark reached for the first time in history. Someone who attains a world record in swimming is therefore the fastest person to ever undertake that particular distance/discipline in the history of the sport.

With that understood. How are so many records falling in swimming this year? For example. John Brown steps up in heat 1 in the 50m freestyle, finishes the race and smashes the world record! He's elated, extatic (reaches for his cell phone to call his mom at home in timbuktoo).

Heat 2 comes around, and John Hancock establishes a new record! (John Brown didn't even have time to call his mom!)

Heat 3 comes around and Hitorchi Suzuki eclipses that record and is now the new world record holder!

How special is the attaining of a world record if so many people have the ability to break it? Additionally, what of the people who were holders of world records for decades before this Olympics? If still alive, they must feel pretty unhappy seeing Tom, Dick and Harry swim below their mark at will.

According to some experts the pool at the Beijing Olympics has been calibrated to produce less friction enabling swimmers to produce faster times. The pool is three meters deep and in the swimming world, that's a fast pool!

Additionally, the new suits from Speedo have been carefully designs to meet the competitive needs of Olympic level swimmers.

With all of that said, my opinion is unchanged. A world or Olympic record means very little if every jack man has access to it.

Let three people break a record in the heats of a track event and see how quickly the world would scrutinize those performances. The IAAF, WADA, USADA and every other anti doping agency or related firm would be all over those athletes' blood and urine samples. I can only hope the same is being done in swimming.

    For example,

    Heat 1 of the men's 100m
    Asafa Powell runs 9.71s

    Heat 2
    Usain Bolt runs 9.69s

    Heat 3
    Tyson Gay produces 9.68s

How believable is that? With 2 - 3 more rounds of competition left in the event not very!

But the swimmers can do it!

    Bored at work

Is being bored at work a good thing? Would you rather be bored than overwhelmed by work? For most of us out there I'm assuming our answer would be the former, boredom.

Since I'm bored and not in the mood to construct meaningful sentences. I will just throw a couple things out there and you (the reader) should be thankful for whatever 2 cents you pick up in the process (Just kidding!).

A list of some songs on my ipod:

    For motivation

    Mavado - money changer
    Mavado - overcome

    To get the blood flowing

    Soulja Boy - Shoot out
Soulja Boy - Snap & Roll

    Nostalgic purposes

Tupac - Keep ya head up
Biggie - Sky is the limit

    For the ladies

Ryan leslie ft Cassie - Addiction
    Lloyd - One for me

When I'm feeling like a boss

    Mavado - Car back
Lloyd Banks - Money rules the world

(My boss just returned - back to work!)

    Feeling Lost

Don't you just dislike it when you feel lost and confused? Well I've been feeling that way recently and the feeling has been pretty hard to shake. I've tried writing down things to do each day, "organizing my life", "getting my life together", along with prayer and Lord knows what else, I just can't shake the darned confusion! Sigh, I think it's a result of me having a lot of things on my mind recently and not being able to resolve the issues as quickly as I would want. Whatever the cause may be, I'm tired of it! And I'm in desperate need for some clarity and direction in my life!

Sometimes I wish my brain had a local yellow pages for my thoughts or some kind of directory to keep them from getting so convoluted. Additionally I would have a local search engine in my brain (like google) that could pick out the necessary information for me and list them in order of relevance! Now that would be neat! Google brain! (As if google doesn't have enough applications out there already!).

Generally speaking I don't use yellow pages or searches of that sort on a regular basis. If I need to find local business or services I usually resort to google maps (google should pay me for free advertisement!). But seriously, I love google maps! More so than mapquest. I'm not sure why but I never got the hang of using mapquest. Plus, google maps not only gives you directions but you get to see the actual location of the place you're looking for!

I love food - did I mention that?

Earlier today I was searching through a site my friend told me to check out (local.com) for some local restaurants. I searched for the closest In N Out burger I could find. For those of you outside of the Los Angeles area In N Out makes some of the most scrumptious, to die for burgers you will ever taste in the western hemisphere! I was able to find an In N Out location just 4 miles from me on the outskirts of Hollywood, not too shabby if I say so myself.

    Anyway..

My brain is still convoluted and after saying all that mumbo jumbo I may have to invest in some brain police to direct the traffic in my cerebral cortex - or something like that.

    Jamaican slangs and terminology

Here are some words and phrases in Jamaican dialect (Patois - pronounced, PAH-TWAH). The pronounciation for the terms are in brackets.

Yuzimi (U ZEE ME) - you understand me?

Dun know (DONE - KNOW) - you already know

Likkle more (LEEKLE MORE) - See you later

Wha gwan (WA-AH GWON) - Whats up?

Daggering (DA-GUR-ING) - Intercourse (the act of copulating)

Frass (FRRRR-ASS) - The state of being high or intoxicated

Fassy (FAH - SEE) - Unsavory person

Touch di road (TOUCH DEE ROAD) - Time to go on the road

Stick bruk inna yuh ears (STICK BRUH-CK IN AH U EARS) - Are you deaf?

    High Yield Investment Programs

    Wikipedia puts it this way:

A High-Yield Investment Program (HYIP) is a type of scam. At one time, it was used to refer to an investment program which may have offered a high return on investment. The term "HYIP" was abused by the operators of scams to camouflage their scams as legitimate investments. Due to this overuse by the operators, HYIP has become synonymous with scam or Ponzi scheme. The usage of the term has evolved to refer to a kind of Ponzi scheme that recruits "investors" through the Internet.

How do I feel about HYIPs? I regard them with utter distaste, the type of disgust and abhorrence Nazi's would be proud of. Why? Because they steal peoples' hard earned money while crushing their dreams. How would you feel if you entrusted the result of your blood, sweat and tears to a company who promised to multiply your capital only to see all your money disappear? I'm sure you would be far less than happy!

Too bad! Whoever entrusts their funds to such entities must be filthy rich and is willing to take that sort of risk. It is highly unlikely that I would fall victim to any such progam as I am too poor to risk my pennies!

Bank of America, Washington Mutual... they have my cash. As for these high yield fancy pants establishments. My patronage extends and ends with this blog post. Full stop!

    Konshens - Winner

Konshens (pronounced conscience) is the latest artiste to send shock waves through Jamaica's provocative dancehal culture. His new single "Winner" has hit home with many Jamaicans and has become an anthem for Jamaicans rich and poor. The video accentuates the lyrics well so much so that one eagerly awaits the video's mainstream - international debut.

    Women's 100m Beijing Olympics 2008

The women's 100m sprint is one of the most highly anticipated events at this year's staging of the Olympic Games. The Americans have for many years dominated the sprints and plan on continuing their tradition of excellence. Standing in their way are a trio of Jamaican athletes who have established themselves as worthy opponents.

Leading the list is 2007 NCAA champion Kerron Stewart. Stewart who has posted some blistering times this season finished ahead of Sherone Simpson and Olympic champion Veronica Campbell - Brown at the Jamaican Olympic Trials held in June 2008. Stewart has been having a season to remember with only one loss coming to mind in late July where she stumbled from a bad start while competing in the 100m. Stewart, a world junior 100m finalist and gold medalist (4x100) is finally realizing the talent she promised in 2002. Her top end speed is unmatched and is considered to be one of the fiercest competitors in the sport - she will be hard to beat!

The next athlete representing Jamaica is Shelly - ann Fraser. Not known to many, Fraser burst onto the scene in virtually one race; a race which may be considered the most important race in her short professional career. The race spoken about is the 100m final at the Jamaican Olympic trials where she narrowly missed defeating Kerron Stewart while shaving eons off her personal best in the event and subsequently defeating favorites, Sherone Simpson and world champion Veronica Campbell - Brown. Many experts consider that race to be one of the biggest upsets of this track season as Campbell - Brown failed in qualifying for the team as Fraser announced her arrival in the big league. Fraser's greatest assest is her start and without a good one she may find herself staring at the heels of her opponents. Her inexperience and small statue are noteworthy weaknesses. Despite this she has been able to run under the 11 second barrier twice this season, she is no fluke!

Jamaica's other entrant, Sherone Simpson, is no stranger to the winner's circle. In 2006 she was the most dominant female sprinter as herself and teammate Asafa Powell lit the world a fire recording impressive performances. Simpson has established herself as Jamaica's most versatile sprinter as her prowess extends to the quarter mile event, the 400m. Simpson has produced many sub 11 clockings in her career but is yet to take home any hardware from a major championship. If she get's it right in the final of the 100m it will require a super - human effort to defeat her.

Jamaica has put together their best team ever. Only the Americans can boast the speed and versatility these women bring to the table. It will be interesting to see who makes the final. Only eight competitors are allowed in the final and if the U.S and Jamaica's athlete's make the final that would leave only 2 lanes for other countries. With the current form of these gifted athletes and history between the countries, the likelihood of this occurring is not far - fetched.

I know the Jamaicans are ready, and the Americans always deliver! But is the rest of the world ready to fill those 2 lanes and become a part of what may be the fastest Olympic women's final in history? Lace up your spikes, say a prayer and take a deep breath. This one will be down to who can keep their nerve best!

Here is how the race unfolded:

    Selling my nintendo wii

So after owning one of the most revolutionary pieces of gaming technology in the last decade or so, I have decided that it is now time for me to part ways with my nintendo wii! We had some fun times, battling against bowser and his minions in super mario galaxy (my favorite wii game). There were some disappointments as well, manhunt for example was an utter waste of my hard earned money. On the other hand, where manhunt fell off, mario & sonic at the olympic games made up for it along with super smash brothers and mario kart.

Why am I selling my wii?

First of all, i'm broke! Secondly, I realized that I hardly play it and have found myself to be more attracted to microsoft's xbox 360. The 360 has more games to choose from which explains the wider genre of games it offers. Additionally, priced a lot lower than sony's playstation 3 it speaks to the hearts of people like myself struggling to stay above the poverty line.

So after figuring that I had exhausted all the gadgets and amenities the wii has to offer I realized that I had not tried out the wii fitness board and wii fit. Why am I not surprised? First of all, at 6'2 165lbs, I doubt that I need any excercise. (I do run a couple miles each day, that should suffice enough). There is no way on this planet that I would make the wii fit plunge! I do not find it comforting burning up a sweat while engaging myself in something that should be relaxing!

It is my firm belief that I am ready to take the halo 3 leap and convert to the xbox 360. After bad mouthing microsoft for years I admit the console has grown on me, along with it's bulky controller. (thanks for making it more user friendly)

Anyway, macbooks' still rule, apple kicks serious #$%^ and windows sucks!
    (Take that Willam "Bill" Gates)

    Beijing Olympics 2008

Here are a list of some of the events and athletes I'm looking forward to watching at the Olympics this year.

    Mens 100m

Why? Not only is the winner classified as the fastest man on the planet but Jamaica has three very competitive entrants. Those being,

Asafa Powell - former 100m world record holder
Michael Frater - World Championship silver medalist
Usain Bolt - current 100m world record holder

This event will definitely be a clash of the titans as the Jamaican trio will duel against strong challenges from the USA featuring the likes of:

Tyson Gay - double sprint world champion
Walter Dix - many time NCAA champion
Darvis Patton - 4th fastest individual over this discipline this year

Additionally the Trinidadians have put together a formidable trio who will be right on the heels of the Jamaicans and Americans ready to capitalize on any hiccups. They include:

Marc Burns - world championship finalist
Darrel Brown - world championship silver medalist
Richard Thompson - NCAA 100m champion

    Mens 110h

This event usually offers many thrills and spills. This year is no different as 21 year old phenom Dayron Robles seeks to continue his winning streak this year as he goes up against the current Olympic champion Liu Xiang of China.
Xiang is regarded as one of the fiercest competitors in the sport and will not relinquish his crown easily. Additionally, the Olympics being staged in China should give Xiang home crowd advantage.

Stay tuned for more Beijing Olympics round up

    Employment

I currently work for a relative where I am getting way less than my qualifications stipulate. Additionally the conditions at the office are less than ideal for me (dusty, no a/c, dirt, grime etc..).
After two weeks of not receiving my full pay (which is less than what i should be paid!!) I'm seriously seeking job opportunities elsewhere. Unfortunately the employment atmosphere in the country I reside is quite hostile and I cannot foresee myself being employed elsewhere in the near future!

    Recruitment agency

I am unaware of any such agencies where I live as this would be of great assistance in aiding my job search.

On my way home from my holiday weekend I drove through Manchester and wondered what the job opportunities were like in that parish? The town seemed very slow paced and dry - not somewhere I would like to be. (No jobs in manchester for me)

Till some opportune job vacancy pops up, I'm stuck working for peanuts!

Even a call centre job vacancy!

How to fix a dell 6000 laptop

I've owned a dell 6000 laptop for a little bit over three years now and man have we been through the roller coaster ride of love!Needless to say that it is now on its "last" and I'm now in desperate need of repair services etc. However, i'm not willing to pay anyone to resurrect my beauty since I have enough confidence in my computer/mr fix it skills.
After encountering a bit of difficulty in disassembling the machine I came across this helpful video on youtube, it is definitely worth a look. The biggest downside to it is that there are no verbal directions (just music in the background). I hope it helps in your troubleshooting etc.

    Car repairs

It's ironic that this post entails information about car repair estimates because just this morning my car battery died on me, and not just that, but two days before someone ran into the back of the said vehicle. (My luck..)

Doing my normal daily rounds on the internet I came across RepairPal.com and when I tell you this website is a cut above the rest, trust me - it is! The website has a host of features all of which are suited in assisting the customer in tracking the repair specifics of their car, finding the closest auto repair shops, advice on getting repairs and even tracking the current status of repairs on your vehicle! (Marvellous!)

Through the sites simple to use interface prospective customers are able to find their make car, ranging from Acura - Volvo and the part of problem they need fixed for example brakes.

I did a test run of the "get an estimate" feature of the site for a 2007 BMW 760i (1000 mileage) which needed front brake pad replacement for someone living the Los Angeles area.

    Here are the results:

    Parts: $48 - $170

    Labor: $102 - $130

    (Estimate excludes applicable taxes)

    (Diagnostic charges not included)

The estimate came with a list of auto repair shops closest to my area code.

Not too shabby, huh? I was impressed!

Do your self a favor before you take your baby, I mean your car, to an overpriced, understaffed and unknown repair place where the mechanic is only known as "chico" and check RepairPal out. It may save you a world of time and money.

Dont take my word for it, go check it out yourself!

    Shooting games aka Shooters

I love video games, xbox, playstation, nintendo - you name it, I've either had it, played it, ,borrowed it, stole it (just kidding). Video games come in a variety of genres some of which are categorized as shooters or shooting games. Some of the most popular and successful shooting games in the last 10 years have been Halo, Call Of Duty, Doom and Duke Nukem.

Video games have become notoriously expensive and many people look to buying them used or months after their release when the price has dropped significantly. But who goes and buys a game after all your friends have finished it and know all the secrets behind it? Not me!

Don't waste your precious money on over priced retailers, buy your games at wize.com. They have a wide variety of games especially shooting games all for reasonable prices! Currently wize is having a sale on Halo, Tom Clancy's: Splinter Cell, Grand Theft Auto and Ninja Gaiden.

    Don't wait for tomorrow!

    Steel buildings

Coming from a country whose buildings are primarily made from concrete and steel I know a good steel building when I see one. (So what?)

Well, in today's day and age with mother nature (father nature, sister nature, whoever) causing all kinds of natural disasters and catastrophes it is a good idea to invest in a high quality, all weather steel building to protect your valuables, be it, cars, appliances, documents etc. With this said, no one appreciates emptying their pockets just out of insurance purposes and so I will (being the nice guy that I am) direct you to a company that will soon become your best friend when it comes to steel buildings.

Future steel buildings offer attractive and affordable steel buildings which have a variety of uses but mainly, workshops, garages, hangars and sheds. The buildings are easy to assemble, so easy that you may do it yourself with just a few simple around the house tools. Additionally, when not in use - you can disassemble it to make room for other stuff!

What are you waiting for? Go get your future steel building today!

    Summer Vacation

Summer is almost here and many of us haven't figured out how we are going to spend it. I for one will be traveling home to the cool breeze, white sand beaches of Jamaica. But if I wasn't going to Jamaica I would probably be planning vacation in some exotic European city like, Amsterdam, Barcelona or Rome. Truth is, I have no family in either of those places so I would have to stay in a hotel. Fortunately easytobook.com offers reviews of hotels and tourist attractions not only in the aforementioned cities but also London and Prague.

The hotels are ranked on a five star system with five being the highest obtainable rating and one the lowest. On the front page features site specials on hotel rates, booking fees and outstanding hotel accommodations (Hotel of the month).

Still in the embryonic stages the site appears to be among the best in its field and can be viewed in 8 different languages. Additionally booking prices are available in three currencies: Euro, Pound and US dollars. The five star rating is accompanied by an in depth review on each hotel ranked out of ten which also gives a 360 degree picture of the hotel and its accommodations.

How to treat hamstring strains 101

So you probably ended up here because you either "strained" your hamstring, "pulled" it, "tweaked" it, "ruptured" it, busted it up or some other appropriate adjective or maybe you just landed here by chance. Whatever the reason may be, you've come to the right place for advice on how to treat and approach hamstring injuries.

How am I qualified to give advice on hamstring injuries? I've been a competitive sub-world class athlete (lol) for over ten years and I have been through the gauntlet of sport induced injuries.  Knee surgery, catscans, bone scans, muscle pulls, spasms, stress fractures - you name it, I've seen it! And if I haven't, I probably know people who have. Despite these injuries I have been able to patch myself up and get back into competitive shape.

    Enough about me

How do hamstring injuries occur? I can't answer that question... google that!

    How to treat hamstring injuries?

Assuming that you have already spoken with your physical therapist, doctor, orthopedist etc..

Your first line of treatment and step to getting back into shape will be for you to ice your hamstring for approximately 15minutes each time over the course of 48 hrs. For the first 24 hrs try to get five 15minute ice therapy treatments in. Depending on your general health, allergies etc, you may also want to take an anti-inflammatory tablet (maybe ibuprofen - see your doctor)Do the same for the next 24hrs.

After going through the rigors of ice treatment you should start applying heat to the area for about the same time, 15minutes 3 - 5 times a day. If you have access to physical therapy treatment its likely your therapist will administer ultrasound treatment which basically promotoes blood flow to the injured area.

Depending on the severity of the injury you should start doing light stretching and excercises to increase mobility and strength. (See your doctor).

    stay tuned for more tips..

The best of Iron Mike Tyson

This is by far one of the most bizarre sports interview compilations I have ever beared witness to and may ever see at that fact.

As barbaric and uncouth Mike Tyson may appear to be, I feel a bit of pity for him. He was such a gifted boxer but due to circumstances which at times were beyond his control, he became a ruthless and volatile person. His managers took advantage of his naivity and ignorance and embezzled thousands (maybe millions) of dollars from him. The one thing he had, boxing, was stripped from him after getting his boxing license suspended and then revoked.

He, in my opinion, will go down as one of the biggest anamolies and disappointments in professional sporting history ever.

Mike, I wish you all the best.

    Sincerely,

    Fan.

Video games - the next generation console battle.

I've been blessed enough to have ready access to most if not all the "good" consoles, and by good consoles I'm referring to the nintendo wii, microsoft xbox 360 and sony playstation 3 . Am I bragging? Yes! You're probably wondering why you should continue reading this article but wait a while and hear me out, I have valuable information you will want to keep handy when heading out to best buy or wherever you go to purchase your video games.

    Nintendo Wii

    nintendo wii

    Best Buy Price: 249.99
    (includes wii controller  & nunchuck)

The good: Of the next generation (since 2005) consoles it is the most affordable and utilizes a control system that even your grand mother will love.

You can play your old (or new) gamecube games on the wii.

    Super Mario Galaxy!

    Microsoft Xbox 360

    Photobucket

    Best Buy Price:279.99 (core)
    (includes 1 wireless controller)

The good: It's cheaper than the sony playstation 3
It has more games than the ps3
Xbox = Halo! (Not avaiable on other consoles)

The bad: 360's tend to have noisy processors

You have to pay for xbox live compatability (connecting to the internet)

The "red ring of death" - Basically, AIDS for your 360.

The ugly: It must suck to have your system mysteriously crash after a year of usage due to the red ring of death - VERY UGLY.

    Sony Playstation 3

    Photobucket

    Best buy Price: 399.99

    (includes 1 wireless controller)

The good: It's like having a PSP, only bigger - without the LCD screen. In other words, you can connect to the internet, watch movies, download music, videos, applications etc. (I don't think you can mod a ps3 yet though)

The controllers are very light. (almost too light)

    The bad: Expensive

Has been known to suffer from overheating problems

There aren't as many games out for it when compared with the 360

The ugly: It's heavy and gaudy - Way too big especially when compared with the nintendo wii

After all is said and done, you may want to take the afforementioned things into consideration, it is YOUR MONEY that is being spent at the end of the day!

    Tired of boring gaming sites?

So I must confess that I am not the biggest online gamer out there, however, when it comes to playing bingo I make exceptions. By now many of us have been through the boring, monotonous user interfaces characteristic of most gaming websites (booo..). Thankfully I've found an online
    bingo
site that has a new refreshing look with tonnes of bingo games to choose from.  Partybingo.com boasts a clean user friendly interface with many games to choose from, namely, the  Mega O' clock, Super O' clock and Joy O' clock all of which promise handsome rewards for lucky winners.

Offshore Software testing has probably not been on the tip of your tongue lately, but that’s only because people are not aware of the huge financial benefits associated with such a venture. For the few who are familiar with offshore software testing, many are unhappy with it usually because they haven't found the right Software Testing Services company – Hundsun. With their leading outsourcing services, it's no wonder why they're regarded as one of the leading companies for Corporate Outsourcing throughout Asia. If your company is ready to outsource some of their testing and services, than now is the time to call Hundsun for their help, because if you're going to outsource, you should certainly do it with the best.

Try not to walk at all! If you have a scooter or bike - USE IT!

Do cross training to stay in shape, riding a stationary bike or working out in a swimming pool.

Ice those shins regularly! At least three times a day if you really want to see results!

Taking a couple anti inflammatory tablets may aid in subsiding the swelling or tenderness around the soft tissue. (Remember I am not a doctor)

Once the pain has gone away do some strengthening exercises and stretches for your shins and calves and arch (your foot bottom).
    • I recommend pressing your big toe against the wall while standing while anchoring at your heel. (helps your arch)
    • Also go on your "tippy toes" 10 times in 3 sets (that helps the calves)
    • Try to keep your shin/calves warm - this increases the blood flow to the area supercharging the muscles surrounding them with well needed oxygen (O2) which is integral for tissue repair.

Remember to consult a doctor or physiotherapist before taking matters into your owns hands!

    Time for new home supplies?

If you or someone you know is planning on making some renovations or changes to your household items don't settle for the inflated prices of the big name stores.

Instead, treat yourself to bargains all day on your household items including bath fixtures, door-wear, kitchen accessories and lighting fixtures at Farreys.com.

If you're shopping for desk lamps, floor lamps, fine art lamps or other types of lamps and lamp shades then Farreys may be the best stop online to suit your lighting needs.

Each lighting category is accompanied by a description of the fixtures, the related brands (for example george kovacs) and pictures of the fixtures.

The site features a shopping cart so that consumers may purchase items directly off the web.
Additionally, Farreys.com features an on-site search bar and specialized search within the category the consumer is browsing.

Farreys.com is proteced by site safe so consumers may shop in a hacker safe environment while benefitting from the wide variety of household fixtures and accessories Farreys.com has to offer.

    No Halo 3 kid!

    *World premier*

In the video below this guy loses it completely and goes on a tirade because he cannot play halo 3 online. No offence to the gamers out there, but since when did a video game become this important? Get a life homie! We don't need anymore psycho fanatics out there, Chris Crocker is sitting comfortably at the top of that list (and probably on something else). Get a life homie.

    "Halo 3 is my life"

This is young lad is a production of:

    1. No life
    2. Not being able to go outside and play when he was a kid
    3. No girl friend
    4. Way too much caffiene
    5. Internet thugging

    Gay Rappers

The video below has been responsible for much of the laughter my friends and I have enjoyed this year since discovering it on youtube (the source of all you're entertainment needs - lol) . I won't say too much about it since I want you to come up with your own impressions on the video.

Warning - not suitable for children.
